Awning Canopies
Awning canopies are quite possibly one of the most useful weather control devices I know of. They are more reliable than using umbrellas or trying to find shade. Awning canopies can be used at your home, business or while you are out. The popularity of awning canopies is growing all the time. There is hardly a day that I don't use awning canopies or see others using them. I even have a little one installed on my stroller to protect my baby from the sun and rain.
Classic shops and hotels always seem to have their own awning canopies in place over the doors and windows. The rounded style that they use is perfect for all types of weather. Snow and rain just slide right off the awning canopies, leaving the area next to the entrance or window clean and dry.
Then the styles began to multiply, providing awning canopies of all shapes, sizes, colors and features. There were triangular awning canopies, rounded awning canopies, retractable awning canopies and even motorized awning canopies. More awning canopies than you would know what to do with! The designs we can make are only limited by our imagination and need. I'm sure they even have awning canopies that are made especially for using on the lake or with a boat. It's amazing what we can come up with, given the opportunity.
When you are out and about, nothing taxes your strength and endurance quite like the sun. Nothing ruins your picnic more than a rainy day. Awning canopies are the easiest form of protection that covers all types of weather. Awning canopies come in many different materials depending on the job you want done. Most are made of canvas, cloth or acrylic. Where heavy snow or winds are a possibility, awning canopies are made of sheet metal, wood, plastic, iron or steel. Some awning canopies are made to cover more than just a window or door. They are also used to cover skylights, sidewalks, solar panels and even entire stadiums. Some records show that awning canopies were used even as far back as the early B.C. years. A poet named Lucretius mentioned them when he talked about linen awning canopies that were stretched over vast theaters. For America, awning canopies became more popular in the 1900's to provide covering for sidewalks and other public entrances. They were often constructed of canvas duck, a tough and water-proof material that had been used for tents and sails. During sunny days or heavy winters, the canvas awnings were rolled up or placed in storage.
Awning canopies have taken the test of time and are still popular today. Weather they are professionally constructed or simply a blanket stretched over a pole to keep out the elements, awning canopies are extremely useful. I think that they have so many uses that they will certainly be around for more years to come. An invention that lasts over the centuries, as well as awning canopies have, is a rare treasure indeed.
